Essential oils are a wonderful tool to use in your wellness routine. Everything from skin, stress, sleep, hormones, immune support, tummy upset, seasonal sniffles, owies + more can benefit from the use of essential oils. It can be hard to know where to start, and what to use when…that’s why I’m here. I love walking alongside my members + helping them address their own health goals with oils + habits that really set them up well for a natural minded, healthy lifestyle.
I’m going to share some oil basics in this post, but be sure to check the bottom of the page where I’ll link any oil related posts so you can find everything all in one spot.

“If you don’t make time for your wellness, you’ll be forced to make time for your illness.”
Our first question…what are essential oils?
Essential oils are compounds extracted from plant parts, like petals, stems, roots + bark. In contrast a fatty oil, like coconut, comes from a plant’s fruit. Unlike a fatty oil, essential oils are not greasy + they can pass right through your skin + into your bloodstream quickly. The oils go through a process called distillation; they capture the plant’s scent or flavor, also called its “essence.” Essential oils are the lifeblood of a plant that brings the plant nutrients + comes to aid in healing. Just like they support the plants they come from, they can support us too.

There are 3 ways to use essential oils:
Topically:
When used topically, it takes about 2 minutes for essential oils to make it to your bloodstream + after 20 minutes they have affected every cell in your body. Start slow + use 1-2 drops to begin and dilute with carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil; labels will say dilution ratios.
Aromatically:
One of the fastest + easiest ways to use essential oils is to simply smell the oil. Within 22 seconds of inhaling an essential oil the molecules have reached your brain. Whether you are using a diffuser, smelling straight from the bottle, or adding drops of oil to diffuser jewelry the effect achieved is the same.
Internally:
The white label bottles, labeled as Vitality oils, are oils that are safe + approved for internal use. You can fill empty vegetable capsules + swallow to support various body systems. Spice things up in your kitchen by adding essential oils to your favorite recipes in place of traditional spices + herbs. Just couple drops will do the trick!
Why does where I buy matter?
Did you know in the US, an oil can be labeled as “pure” when they have a small percentage of that oil as an ingredient? That means there are a lot of perfume (aka fragrance) grade oils labeled as “pure“. These perfume grade oils have no health benefits + can actually cause adverse reactions. Quality + sourcing matters, that’s why I use Young Living. YL has been around for over 25 years, they aren’t just a trend, they started this whole movement + their quality + standards are unmatched. All of their products are backed by a seed to seal promise, meaning they are involved in the entire process of producing oils, from picking out top seeds, planting, growing, harvesting + distilling…what’s in the bottle is just pure unadulterated oils, no fillers. They also have very high standards for what passes their testing + have their oils 3rd party tested. I’ve seen them reject a batch that was perfectly fine by legal standards, but was below their standard, they lose money doing this, but, that’s one of the reasons why they have earned my trust.

Where Should I Start?
There really are a lot of options when signing up as a Young Living member, but my favorite place to start is with the Premium Starter Kit (PSK). Before we get into it, let me put your mind at ease and say you do not have to place an order every month + you do not have to sell oils to buy them…so, phew….that’s a relief right?! You have the freedom to get what you want when you want it.
So…why should you start with the PSK? Well, first off, this is going to unlock a wholesale membership for you, that means you get 24% off of this order + future orders, which is a no brainer right?! (There are other bundles + ways to unlock that discount, I’ll go over that another time). Second, you are going to get 12 popular oils that cover a wide range of uses, a diffuser, and other bonus goodies to try out…it’s basically like the oily mamas starter pack + since it’s all bundled together you’re saving a ton of money, like over $200 worth! Say what?!
Here’s the other thing, when you sign up with me, I will personally be in touch to make sure you know how to use all your oils + help you address your own personal health goals. I always send my new members a welcome gift with educational books, a roller bottle so you can try your hand at making your own blends + lots of other goodies that you will love, supporting my members is my favorite part of this job. We also have a private FB resource group with training, product education, an awesome supportive community + there are even giveaway’s from time to time!
