Pressing In When Growth Is Slow

I have some daffodil bulbs that I planted last spring…I know, I know, you’re supposed to plant them in the winter, which I had meant to do, but things got crazy + as the season started to change, I figured, might as well try…my optimistic heart hoped there was still a chance, but I never saw them come up + I wondered if I had ruined them…low and behold, almost a year later and I saw green poking out of the earth! Life! This forgotten bulb that had been hidden + secure had brought forth life exactly when it was supposed to.

Maybe in your mind a flower isn’t profound…but I often find, it’s the simplest things that bring me the most joy, revelation + truth about my own life. It makes me think of how I get impatient with myself when I’m not seeing the changes I want to see, or when I’m trying to teach my kids something + it seems like it doesn’t stick…then one day, it just seems to make sense + bloom. The effort, the time, the love we pour in, isn’t wasted…it just takes time to grow. We need to stop putting growth on an “above the soil” scale. So much growth + life happens under the surface!

So my encouragement to you is to be patient, keep nurturing the growth you want to see, but know it will bloom in the perfect timing…and friend, don’t underestimate the power of connecting with nature! Creation was made to praise God! We can learn so much about the Creator when we pay attention…like that old saying goes…don’t forget to stop + smell the roses. Happy spring! May your heart be filled with renewed hope, that your time of growth is coming! xo-Kristine
